Locally Read Inverter Data and Upload to Virtual Meter
Incentive Program: Locally Read Inverter Data and Upload to Virtual Meter
IAMMETER is launching a new program that encourages users to locally read inverter data and upload it to the Virtual Meter using IAMMETER-cloud’s open API.
Who Can Participate?
If you are an IAMMETER user and know how to locally retrieve data from your inverter, we welcome you to join this program.
Tasks to Complete
- Read inverter data locally, including voltage, current, power generation, generated energy, battery power, and battery energy.
- Use the Virtual Meter API to send this data to IAMMETER-cloud.
You can share your solution on the IAMMETER forum or contact us via email at support@devicebit.com.
Rewards
Upon confirmation that your solution is feasible, IAMMETER will publish it on our forum and offer the following rewards as a token of appreciation:
- WEM3050T
- Lifetime Virtual Meter SN service access
Using Home Assistant to Read Inverter Data
Home Assistant provides numerous integrations for inverters, making it an efficient tool for locally retrieving inverter data.
IAMMETER is currently developing an HACS component (IAMMETER-Link), which will soon be released. This component will enable Home Assistant to send locally collected inverter data to IAMMETER’s Virtual Meter.

Until this component is released, users can use custom templates to send inverter data to IAMMETER-cloud via the Virtual Meter HTTP POST API.
For details, please refer to the section "How to Upload Data to Virtual Meter."
Using Data Loggers to Read Inverter Data
While Home Assistant is an efficient method, setting it up might be challenging for some users.
Therefore, we are considering developing an ESP32-based inverter data logger that can locally read inverter data through network interfaces (TCP/UDP) or TTL/RS485 connections.
There are many open-source projects for different inverter brands available online. If your inverter has an existing open-source solution, please let us know—we would be happy to provide you with a free data logger as a token of appreciation.
How to Upload Data to Virtual Meter
You can use the Virtual Meter API to push inverter data to IAMMETER-cloud.
This documentation demonstrates how to upload data using Postman.
