Agent Account: A Business Solution for Integrators and Resellers

The architecture of IAMMETER-Cloud is shown in the diagram below.

Agent-account-IAMMETER
  • User: A personal account where all meter devices are managed under the account.
  • Virtual Site: This appears only when a personal account has more than one Site/Plant/Place. It is a feature provided by IAMMETER-Cloud that allows users to select different Plant/Site/Place from their account and aggregate the data (such as power and energy consumption) in a Virtual Site for unified display. https://www.iammeter.com/docs/virtual-site
  • Site/Plant/Place: The billing unit within IAMMETER-Cloud. All electricity billing settings are based on Site/Plant/Place.
  • Meter: A power meter added under a Site/Plant/Place.

For regular users, they purchase meters directly from IAMMETER, register them on IAMMETER-Cloud using their SN (serial number), and obtain a user account (e.g., User 1, User 2).

What can an Agent Account do?

For integrators and resellers, IAMMETER allows them to apply for an Agent Account by sending an email request to support@devicebit.com. Once the Agent Account is activated, it grants additional permissions, as follows:

  • The ability to directly create user accounts (such as User 3 and User 4 in the diagram) and enable/disable these accounts within the Agent Account.
  • Access to Agent-level APIs, which allow retrieving information about all accounts or devices under the agent.

It is important to note that user accounts created under an Agent Account have the same functionality as user accounts registered directly on IAMMETER-Cloud using an SN. However, user accounts created under an Agent Account belong to that Agent Account, meaning they can be accessed, disabled, or deleted by the Agent Account.

Example usage of an Agent Account

Integrator A is an energy-saving solutions provider that uses IAMMETER to offer energy-saving solutions for different clients. After project implementation, Integrator A is responsible for project operation and maintenance, while clients also need to log in to the system to monitor their energy consumption in real-time.

In this scenario, Integrator A can take advantage of the Agent Account, as shown in the diagram below:

  • Create different user accounts for different projects, set up Site/Plant/Place, and add Meters under each user account.
  • Grant clients access to their respective user accounts, allowing them to view monitoring data while restricting configuration modifications.
  • Offer different user API services to different users based on project requirements (via user tokens).
  • Use the Agent Account API (via agent tokens) to manage devices and user accounts, improving operational efficiency.
